Lead (II) tantalate can be obtained by reacting silver or sodium tantalate with lead (II) chloride .

Lead (II) tantalate is a ferroelectric solid that is practically insoluble in water. It has an orthorhombic crystal structure with the space group Amm 2 (space group no. 38) .
