Blitz was a punk / Oi! Band from New Mills in the district of Derbyshire in England . They had their heyday especially in the UK in the early 1980s.

Band history

The band consisted of both punks and skinheads and always referred to themselves as a punk band. Garry Bushell , an editor for Sounds magazine , loved Blitz and made it clear in several articles.

After major successes in the early 1980s, the band broke up, only to be reanimated by guitarist and songwriter Alan Miller with a new line-up. After an appearance, Miller was hit by a car while under the influence of drugs on a freeway and died on February 10, 2007 .

Blitz had a great musical influence on various punk rock formations. Some of their songs were known punk bands gecovert . For example, the Blitz song "Someone's Gonna Die" was on Rancids Radio Radio EP . "Warriors" was covered by The Distillers and Judge . On the sampler The Worldwide Tribute To The Real Oi , Oxymoron interpret the Blitz title “New Age” and the Ryker’s “Never Surrender”, on part 2 of the sampler Roger Miret and the Disasters cover the track “Voice Of A Generation”. With Voice Of a New Generation: A Tribute To flash a compilation, on the 15 punk bands of the band pay homage, including appeared in 1999, Red London , Red Alert and Charge 69 .
