Blockstars - Sido macht Band was an eight-part Austrian TV show that was broadcast on Thursday night from December 2011 to February 2012 . It's a mix of reality TV and documentary . Elements of a casting show also flowed into the program. It was moderated by the German rapper Sido .
concept
Eight young adults, who do not have it easy in everyday life, applied after a nationwide call. Six young men were selected by Sido and moved with him into a 600 square meter loft apartment in Vienna's third district, Landstrasse .
The aim of the program was to form a rap band out of these young people, " The Black Eyed Peas in German", as the presenter puts it in the first episode. In the end, a record deal was signed with the Universal Music Group and the band took part in Österreich rockst die Song Contest , the Austrian preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku .
In contrast to a classic casting show, there was no live show and the audience could not vote.
