Blooming Prairie is a city in Steele County , Minnesota , United States . According to the 2004 census updates, the town had 1951 inhabitants. A small part of the local area protrudes into Dodge County .

At the time of the 2000 United States Census, Blooming Prairie was inhabited by 1,933 people. The population density was 552.8 people per km ². There were 774 housing units at an average of 221.4 per km ².
