Blue Crush 2 - No Limits is an American surf film released in 2011 . The film is the sequel to Blue Crush (2002) and was produced directly for the DVD market. The main character is the young surfer Dana, who takes a surfing tour through South Africa to pay her last respects to her late mother.

The young surfer Dana lives as a half-orphan with her father in Bel Air after her mother dies of cancer . Her father is overprotective for fear of losing his daughter too. After an argument, Dana reads her mother's old diary, in which she writes how much she dreams of surfing in the South African coastal town of Jeffreys Bay and that she would like to show her daughter the South African surf spots .
Dana decides to secretly travel to South Africa with her mother's surfboard to visit the surf spots as her mother wanted. Dana meets Grant on the plane and in Durban she meets the surfer Pushy who is trying to join the Roxy team. The two become friends and surf together on the town's surfing beach. In the water they meet Tara, who takes Dana the right of way and accidentally destroys her surfboard.
On the beach, Dana notices that her locker has been broken into. Pushy prevents Dana from returning home and offers to live with her. Pushy lives in self-built wooden houses with other surfers, including Tara, on a beach near Durban. There Dana meets Tim, who founded the timber settlement.
Pushy and Dana start their surf trip and drive an off-road vehicle borrowed from Grant to various spots that Dana's mother reported in her diary. During this time, Dana and Tim also get closer. Dana's father has since quit his job to look for his daughter.
When Dana and Pushy are out in a township , they discover that Grant is trading in ivory and turn their backs on him. The next day, while everyone is still asleep, demolition vehicles arrive. The residents just manage to get out of the houses with their surfboards before they are destroyed. They drive from Durban to Jeffreys Bay with the decommissioned coach that Tim lives in . There Dana meets her father and is reconciled with him again. Pushy passed a surf casting exam and was accepted into the Roxy team. Dana then dumps her mother's ashes into the sea. The next morning, Dana surfs the “Supertubes”, the waves that her mother always dreamed of.
Remarks
Although the actresses in the film shot some surfing scenes themselves, the more demanding scenes were doubled by professional athletes , including Sofía Mulánovich and Sally Fitzgibbons .
reception
The film received mostly negative reviews. The Nordwest-Zeitung judged that the “beautiful pictures of picturesque sunsets and curvy surfers” could not hide the “weak story and the stupid dialogues”. According to video.de, the focus is on the self-discovery of a teenager, but the highlights are the impressively photographed surf rides.
