The Blue Sirius is the oldest seagoing ship in Estonia that is still sailing today . The ship, built in Norway in 1907, was brought to Estonia in 2004 after a long service (1975-2004) in Germany through Tuletorn Fond.
The ship was built in 1907 as a cargo ship by Bjørn Alvdal in Brekke ( Risnefjorden ) in Norway . Called “the Brixham trawler ” because of its elegance , the Blue Sirius transported salt from England to Norway. It was later used as a herring logger .
In 1975 the ship was brought to Lübeck by Hans Arnold . Until 2006 it was in the museum harbor . In 2006 the ship changed her home port to Tapurla, a small village on the Baltic coast of Estonia. The Blue Sirius was mainly used in the summer for short coastal trips under sail in the Tallinn Bay.
