Blues in Lehrte
Blues in Lehrte is an open-air - music festival , which since 1984 annually on the first Saturday in September in Lehrte takes place. The style of the festival is the blues . The organizer is the recognized non-profit association for the promotion of music and youth culture - Blues in Lehrte . In addition to the annual blues festival, the association organizes club concerts at irregular intervals in the local youth club and theater, Das Andere Kino, as well as seminars in cooperation with the local adult education center .
history
The idea for the Lehrter Blues Festival came about during a vacation in Scandinavia for some of the young teachers. Since then, the festival has been organized by a few dozen people on a voluntary basis. On June 1, 2004, the non-profit association for the promotion of music and youth culture - Blues in Lehrte eV was founded. The association is funded by the German Music Council .
On September 20, 2014, the Lehrter Blues Festival was awarded the German Blues Award as the best blues festival in Germany after regular nominations since 2008 .
The artists who have performed in Lehrte over the years include Abi Wallenstein , Ana Popović , Blues Company , BB & The Blues Shacks , Chris Farlowe , Das third Ohr , Eb Davis, Hamburg Blues Band , Aynsley Lister , Maggie Bell , Marius Tilly Band , Miller Anderson , Tim Mitchell, Erja Lyytinen, Oli Brown, Nikki Hill, Richie Arndt , Sidney Ellis, Sven Zetterberg, Thorbjørn Risager and Tommy Schneller .
In 2016 the festival had around 1300 visitors.
