Bo Börjesson

Bo Börjesson (born December 1, 1949 ) is a former Swedish football player . The midfielder appeared in 23 games for the Swedish national team and scored five goals.

Career

Börjesson started playing football at Gunnilse IS . In 1971 he left the club for Örgryte IS . “Bosse”, his nickname for the club in Allsvenskan , ran for two years . In 1973 Börjesson had to change clubs again for professional reasons and went to IFK Sundsvall in the second-class Division 1 . In the 1975 season he helped the team as the top scorer in the second division for promotion to the Allsvenskan.

With his good performance for the club from Medelpad in the Allsvenskan Börjesson national coach Georg Ericson attracted attention. On August 11, 1976, he made his debut in the 6-0 success over the Finnish national team in the national jersey and was able to enter the goalscorer list shortly before the end with the goal for the final score. As a result, he was able to establish himself in the squad. Until the autumn of the following year he was appointed regularly and thus helped qualify for the 1978 World Cup . He was not nominated for the tournament. In the 1980 season he reached seventh place in the table with the team - the club's best result in the club's history. He returned to the national team through good performances and was used here until his club was relegated to the second division in 1981.

Until 1984 Börjesson played for IFK Sundsvall in the second division. When the club relegated to the third division, he moved on to Kubikenborgs IF . He then played for Alnö IF and Stockiks IF .

In a survey for the best Medelpad player of all time in early 2008, he was voted first, ahead of Anders Grönhagen and Tomas Brolin .
