Bo Dietl

Richard Alfred "Bo" Dietl (* approx. 1950 ) is an American detective , entrepreneur , actor and writer .

Life

Dietl served as a police officer in the New York City Police Department from June 1969 . In March 1985, he injured his foot while skydiving and left the NYPD to start the detective and security company Beau Dietl & Associates .

In the 1986 congressional elections , Dietl was nominated in the sixth constituency of New York, but lost to Floyd H. Flake in the election . George HW Bush named Dietl Chairman of the National Crime Commission in 1989. In 1994 he was named chairman of the Security Guard Advisor Community to the Governor of New York.

In 1988 Dietl published his autobiography One Tough Cop: The Bo Dietl Story. The book was filmed in 1998 by Bruno Barreto as One Tough Cop with Stephen Baldwin in the role of Bo Dietl. Dietl himself had a cameo in the film . Dietl also appeared in several films as an actor, often as a police officer. Occasionally he also appeared as an executive producer . Dietl played himself in Martin Scorsese's 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street .
