Bob French
Robert "Bob" French (* 1938 in New Orleans ; † 12. November 2012 ) was an American jazz - and Rhythm & Blues - drummer and broadcaster .
Live and act
As a child, Bob French took lessons from Louis Barbarin . He formed a rhythm and blues band in high school , where u. a. James Booker , Art and Charles Neville (later Neville Brothers ), Kidd Jordan and Alvin Batiste played. In the 1960s he recorded with Earl King and Fats Domino . He also worked with Dave Bartholomew , to whom he is related on his mother's side. Bob French & Friends played regularly on Frenchmen Street at the DBA Nightclub . From 1977 to 2011 he directed The Tuxedo Jazz Band , which was initially directed by Papa Celestin and from 1958 to 1977 by French's father, Albert Papa French . He also moderated the local jazz radio station WWOZ in New Orleans. He died of complications from diabetes and dementia .
