Robert Philip "Bobby" Militello (born March 25, 1950 in Buffalo , New York ) is an American jazz musician ( alto saxophone , tenor saxophone , clarinet and flute ).

Bobby Militello first learned - influenced by the film The Benny Goodman Story - alto saxophone and clarinet, played with local bands in his hometown of Buffalo and went on tour with Maynard Ferguson's Big Band from 1975 to 1979 . In 1980 he played in jazz clubs in Florida; then he worked as a freelance musician, initially from 1981 to 1984 in Buffalo; then he worked in Los Angeles until 1992, where he played in the orchestras of Don Menza , Bill Holman and Bob Florence . Militello also recorded with Ferguson and Charlie Shoemake during this period ; from 1983 he played repeatedly in the bands of Dave Brubeck and participated in many Brubeck recordings. He also worked with his own formations and recorded some albums under his own name; Otherwise he is mainly active in the music scene in Buffalo. In Allmusic, critic Scott Yanow describes Bobby Militello as an excellent but underrated woodwind player.
