The Bockberg is 496 m above sea level. NN high southwestern foothills of the Great Hornberg in the Harz near Königshütte in the Harz district , Saxony-Anhalt ( Germany ).
Geographical location
The Bockberg is located in the Lower Harz within the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park . It rises immediately to the north of a curve on federal road 27 in the Königshütte district of Neue Hütte . Directly to the south, the Kalte Bode flows through Königshütte and feeds the Königshütte dam a little further below .
geology
On the southwest slope of the Bockberg you can see part of a volcano in the Devon Sea. Debris from keratophylar lavas in white, caustic binder have built up a volcanic breccia here, which is veined by corridors filled with red iron stone . The plateau of the "mountain" is largely karstified.
Conservation and flora
The Bockberg nature reserve has been located on the Bockberg and its flanks since 1967 . Numerous rare plants, including the globe flower, thrive on the golden oat and montane semi- arid meadows .
