Bogalusa (also Bogaloosa ) is a city in Washington Parish in the US state of Louisiana .

Bogalusa is located on the eastern border of Washington Parish in Louisiana on the Pearl River and forms the production and trading center of this area. On July 4, 1914, the place was officially registered by a government commission.
history
The name "Bogalusa" is of Indian origin and derived from the brook Bogue Lusa, which means something like gray water or dark water . Bogalusa was founded by the Goodyear company , which established a sawmill here in 1906. (Great Southern Lumber Company). Even today (2009) the operating company Temple-Inland is one of the leading manufacturers of pulp, paper, cardboard boxes, bags and other paper products in the USA. Parts of the National Guard are stationed in Bogalusa.

According to the 2000 census, 13,365 people live in 5,431 households and 3,497 families in the city. In the city, 27.4% are under 18 years old, 9.2% are 18 to 24, 23.9% are 25 to 44, 21.3% are 45 to 64, and 18.2% are over 65. The average age is 37. For every 100 women there are 82.7 men.
