Boghos Bedros XI. Emanuelian , also Paul Peter XI. Emanuelian (born January 16, 1829 in Telerpen , † April 18, 1904 ), was the eleventh Armenian Catholic Patriarch of Cilicia . He was a philosopher and theological writer .

Life

Boghos Emanuelian was appointed Bishop of Casarea ( Kayseri ) in Cappadocia on August 26, 1881 . On 24./26. In July 1899 the Synod of the Armenian Catholic Church elected him Patriarch of Cilicia. Pope Leo XIII. (1878-1903) confirmed him in office.

Bedros XI. consecrated his successor Boghos Bedros XII. Sabbaghian appointed bishop of Iskanderiya in Egypt . Patriarch Bedros XI. held two other episcopal offices, from 1899 to 1904 he was also Archbishop of Constantinople and Apostolic Administrator of the Eparchy of Ispahan in Iran . Bedros XI went down in the history of the Armenian Catholic Patriarchs. as a "philosophical patriarch". In practice he was not very close to political and national life. He was more of a philosopher, theologian and author.
