Boguszyce (German: Bogschütz ) is a village in Silesia ( Poland ). It belongs to the municipality of Oleśnica in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and has about 1400 inhabitants.

history

Bogschütz used to belong to the Oels ( Oleśnica ) parish and became Protestant in 1538. The old church (built 1712–1714) is still standing today and has not changed much inside. It was simply adapted to the Catholic faith. In 1927 plaques of honor for fallen soldiers from the community were found here in or on the church. The cemetery surrounding the church is leveled except for a tombstone.

The population of Bogschütz remained more or less constant from the end of the 19th century until the end of the German period:

  • 1867: 675 inhabitants
  • 1871: 679 inhabitants (including 50 illiterate people) in 106 residential buildings and 139 households. There was also a coffee house and a pharmacy
  • 1905: 572 inhabitants (554 of them Protestant, 18 Catholic) in 87 houses and 135 households.
  • 1925: 714 inhabitants
  • 1939: 704 inhabitants in 202 households,

The residents' register of the district of Breslau from 1936 lists 33 residents by name in Bogschütz.

The castle in Bogschütz was built by Carl Heinrich Wilhelm Wolf (1820–1876).

From 1975 to 1998 the village was administratively part of the Wroclaw Voivodeship .
