The Borçka Dam is located in the Artvin Province in northeastern Turkey . It was built by the Office for Water Management (DSI) for electricity generation and flood protection south of the city of Borçka .
The dam is one of many on the Çoruh River. The installed capacity of two 150 MW Francis turbines should lead to an annual electricity production of 1039 GWh. The construction was carried out as a joint venture between Yüksel Constructions , Temelsu and Strabag . The road between Borçka and Artvin had to be relocated for the construction .
The Deriner Dam is upstream and the Muratlı Dam downstream .
