action
Dr. Lila Coletti works as a psychologist in a correctional facility with felons. She has two daughters and is in the middle of a divorce. Coletti loses custody of the children.
A short time later, her former husband and his new partner are stabbed to death. Lila Coletti now gets custody of the two girls and the house. The investigating police officer, Detective Macy Kobacek, has a relationship with Coletti. He believes in her innocence, but the evidence incriminates her. She is arrested and later released on bail.
Coletti suspects Ed Baikman, a released patient who killed his parents in the same way. But she can't prove it. Baikman is persecuting his former doctor. He demands that she become intimate with him and threatens to tell the police that she planned the murders with him.
Coletti is finally able to get Baikman to make a confession, which she tapes. Accordingly, he committed the acts independently without being instigated to do so. The policeman Kobacek listens. He is knocked unconscious by Baikman in a fight, but then Coletti manages to knock Baikman down. In the end, she is freed from suspicion and happily reunited with her children.
