Boris Chadschumarowitsch Kulayev

Boris Chadschumarowitsch Kulayev ( Russian Борис Хаджумарович Кулаев * 18th July 1929 in Ardon , † 12. August 2008 ) began in Ordzhonikidze (now Vladikavkaz ) in North Ossetia with the rings , where a wrestler center had developed after the 1945th With the help of the coach G. Termolajew and Ch. Giojew, he developed into one of the best Soviet freestyle wrestlers in the light heavyweight class in the early 1950s.

Career

In 1954 he passed his first international test by defeating the Swedish Olympic champion Karl-Erik Nilsson . Also in 1955 he had a great success at the World Youth Festival in Warsaw by defeating the Iranian Gholamreza Takhti .

At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , he stood against the same wrestler in the final battle for the gold medal in the light heavyweight division and this time lost on points. In 1957 Boris remained undefeated at the World Cup in Istanbul , but fought against Ismet Atli from Turkey and Petko Sirakow from Bulgaria "only" a draw and came in 2nd place.

1959 Kulayev was used again at the World Cup in Tehran . After a victory over the French Maurice Jaquel and a draw against the Halle based Dieter Rauchbach , who started for the all-German team, he lost again against Gholamreza Takhti and ended up in 6th place.

In 1960, Kulayev ended his wrestling career after he was not nominated for the Olympic Games in Rome, although he had become Soviet champion again that year.
