Boris Vasilyevich Bunkin

Boris Wassiljewitsch Bunkin ( Russian Борис Васильевич Бункин ; born July 16, 1922 in the village of Aksinjino (now Moscow ); † May 22, 2007 ) was a Russian missile designer .

Life

Bunkin was the son of the geodesist Vasily Fjodorowitsch (1894-1943) and the accountant Antonina Sergejewna nee Zelikowa (1893-1947). In 1936 the family moved to Moscow. After graduating from high school in 1940, Bunkin began studying at the Moscow State Aviation Institute (MAI). From the beginning of the German-Soviet War , he worked in Moscow Aircraft Engine Factory No. 24 . In October 1941, Bunkin was evacuated to Alma-Ata with the teachers and students of the MAI . After returning to Moscow, he defended in 1947 at the Radio Technology - Faculty of May his thesis, then the Chair , the radio technology of the MAI postgraduate begin.

From 1950 Bunkin worked in the new KB-1 design office, whose radio technology department was headed by Alexander Andrejewitsch Raspletin . The KB-1 was 1966, the Moscow design office Strela ( Arrow ) and 1971, the Central Design Office Almas ( Diamond ) of the Ministry of Radio Industry of the USSR , which become the leading development and production company for the production of antiaircraft - rocket system for the Soviet Air Defense Forces developed. Bunkin was the general designer of the Almas company from 1968 to 1998. During this time, the S-300 missile system was created . He was then a scientific advisor. Bunkin was elected a full member of the AN-SSSR in 1974.

Bunkin's younger brother was the physicist Fyodor Wassiljewitsch Bunkin .

Bunkin was buried in the Trojekurovo cemetery in Moscow .
