Bornitz is located in Upper Lusatia . Surrounding villages are Luttowitz in the north, Quatitz in the east, Kleinförstchen in the south, Cölln in the southwest, Milkwitz in the west and the main town Radibor in the northwest.

The Saxon state roads 106 and 107 run west and north of Bornitz, respectively.

Population development of Bornitz

For his statistics on the Sorbian population in Upper Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined a population of 111 in the 1880s, including 105 Sorbs (95%) and six Germans.
