history

Milkwitz was first mentioned in a document as Milkewicz in 1394 . In the following period the place name changed from Milkewitz in 1528 via Milckwicz (1562) to Milckwitz in 1791. At the time of its first mention and from 1580 the place was the seat of a manor that also held the manorial rule over the village.

On July 25, 1952, Milkwitz was assigned to the Bautzen district . Until January 1, 1973 Milkwitz was an independent rural community (from April 1, 1936 with the district of Strohschütz ), then it was assigned to the community of Kleinwelka and, after the reunification, was part of the community of Kleinwelka in the Bautzen district in Saxony . On January 1, 1994, Kleinwelka was incorporated into Bautzen and Milkwitz was reclassified to Radibor . Since the Saxon district reform on August 1, 2008 , the place has been in the Bautzen district .
