Lomske , Upper Sorbian Łomsk ? / i , is a village in the east of the Saxon district of Bautzen . It is part of Upper Lusatia and has been part of the Radibor municipality since 1994 . The place belongs to the official Sorbian settlement area and has 193 inhabitants. Audio file / audio sample

geography

The place is located 12 kilometers north of Bautzen in the Upper Lusatian heath and pond landscape at 145  m above sea level. NN. The area is hilly; In the northwest, the 199 m high Hahnenberg rises in an extensive forest area near Droben . The brook Lomschanke passes Lomske to the northwest. To the southwest of the village, in the direction of Luppa , there are several fish ponds, including the Passock pond and Haubin pond .

Lomske is originally a round hamlet , later the place was expanded to the east. In the western part of the settlement there is an estate.

history

The place is first mentioned in 1353 as Lomcz . The current form of the name appears for the first time in 1732. The manor was first mentioned in 1858.

After the Congress of Vienna , the Prussian - Saxon border ran from 1815 to 1945 directly at the Warthaer Gut at the south-western end of the village, whereby the place itself belonged to Prussia.

Until 1936 Lomske was an independent rural community with the eastern part of Crosta . Due to its rapid growth, this was spun off as an industrial location in 1910 and from then on formed its own municipality. On April 1, 1936, Lomske came to the municipality of Luppa , which in 1994 became part of the municipality of Radibor.

The last population data for the independent municipality of Lomske give 242 inhabitants for 1925. In 1890 the place had only 145 inhabitants. Since reunification, the population has decreased slightly; the municipality of Radibor gives 194 residents for 2008.

For his statistics on the Sorbian population in Upper Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined a population of 233 inhabitants in the 1880s; 218 of them were Sorbs (94%) and 15 were Germans.

Lomske has been parish after Milkel since at least the 16th century . The last information on religious affiliation comes from 1925. At that time, 234 of the 242 inhabitants were Evangelical-Lutheran (97%).

Lomske is a little off the state road 106 ( Kleinwelka -Milkel). The next junction of the Autobahn 4 ( Bautzen-West ) is about ten kilometers away in a southerly direction.
