The Bosnian-Herzegovinian U-19 national team is the official selection of the best U-19 football players from Bosnia and Herzegovina .
history
Euro 1998 Cyprus
The first participation in a U-18 European football championship in 1998 played the Bosnian U-19 national team 1997-1998. They lost all three group games, didn't score a goal and were last.
EM 1999 Sweden
At the U-18 European Football Championship in 1999 , the Bosnian U-19 national team surprisingly came first in Group 10 with Switzerland and Lithuania . Bosnia scored its first goal and victory in a European Championship qualifier against Lithuania.
In the second round, the team met Portugal . The first game went 2-1 to Portugal, and in the second game the Portuguese showed no weakness and defeated the Bosnian U-19 national team 4-1. Portugal finally won the U-19 European Championship.
EM 2008 Czech Republic
The next big success after a long dry spell came in the qualifications for the U-19 European Football Championship in 2008 . In the qualifying round they prevailed against Greece , Poland and Montenegro as second in the group and thus reached the elite round.
In the elite round, teams from England , Scotland and Slovakia were simply one size too big for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian national football team. With three defeats they said goodbye to the elite round.
EM 2009 Ukraine
In the qualifications for the U-19 European Football Championship 2009 , the U-19 selection survived the qualifying round. The surprising first place was won in front of the teams from Northern Ireland , Iceland and Bulgaria .
This means that the youth selection is entitled to participate in the elite round from March 1 to May 31, 2010.
