The Bossard Arena is an ice rink in the Swiss city of Zug in the canton of the same name . The ice hockey club EV Zug from the National League plays its home games here. The arena has 7,200 seats, of which 4,512 seats and 2,735 standing places. The arena is part of the Zug West development program together with the 63-meter-high uptown tower.
history
The Bossard Arena was inaugurated in August 2010. The design comes from the Lucerne office of Scheitlin Syfrig Architects . The Bossard Arena replaced the old Herti Hall . There is also a 3,000 square meter photovoltaic system on the roof that produces around 200,000 kWh of electricity annually. In addition to numerous parking spaces in front of the building, the stadium is also provided with a nearby tram stop - Zug Schutzengel - and several ZVB bus stops. Fan buses have their own bus station at Arena Platz, with extra access for guest fans to their standing area.
In the summer of 2017, the installation of additional seats increased the total capacity from 7,015 to 7,200 spectators.
Surname
The screw trading and logistics company Bossard , based in Zug, has been a name sponsor since it opened . The contract ran for ten years with an option for another five years. In February 2020 it was announced that Bossard had drawn the agreed option. The extension period is from August 1, 2020 to July 31, 2025.
Events
Shortly after the opening, the Swiss Figure Skating Championships 2011 were held in December . The Street Hockey World Championship 2015 and the U18 Ice Hockey World Championship 2015 were also held in the Bossard Arena.
