history

Bradford originated in the early 1770s under the name New Bradford and was named after Bradford (Massachusetts) , the former home of some of the settlers. Finally, in 1787, the city was officially founded. This event was celebrated in a celebration in 1887, for which a 200-page commemorative publication was published.

As early as 1791, Christoph Daniel Ebeling mentions the small town as a Presbyterian parish of the "county" (ie of the county ) Hillsborough in his description of the earth and history of America

In 1850 Bradford was connected to the Concord and Claremont Railroad network.

In 1863, Bradford Town Hall was built from a previously demolished public building on the same site that was added to the National Register of Historic Places .

By 1874 at the latest, there was evidence of a public telegraph station in the village , with which telegrams could also be sent abroad.

In 1961 the local railway line, which had existed here for over 100 years, was closed.
