Brainstorm was an American disco - radio - tape , in 1977 by the singles Wake Up and Be Somebody and Lovin 'Is Really My Game became known.

Band history

The group was formed in Chicago in 1976 and consisted of Belita Woods, Charles Overton, Jeryl Bright, Larry Sims, Gerald Kent, Trenita Womack, Lamont Johnson, Willie Wooten, Bob Ross and Renell Gonsalves, son of longtime saxophonist Duke Ellingtons , Paul Gonsalves .

In December 1976, the debut single Wake Up and Be Somebody appeared , which climbed to number 48 on the Billboard R&B charts in early 1977. In March, this track entered the US pop single charts for the first and last time , where it reached number 86. Another hit followed in April with Lovin 'Is Really My Game , which reached number 14 on both the US R&B and dance charts. The associated album Stormin ' was ranked 31st on the R&B charts, but also ranked 145th on the US album charts .

The next studio album, Journey to the Light , was released in 1978 and reached number 53 on the R&B charts. Only the release We're on Our Way Home made it into the R&B hit list with 84th place. The third album that followed in 1979, Funky Entertainment , missed a chart position, but it contains two R&B chart hits with Hot for You (# 65) and You Put a Charge in My Life (# 84). Hot for You also climbed to # 21 on the Billboard Dance chart.
