George Brandon Adams (born December 12, 1978 in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is an American poker player , author and university lecturer .

Personal

Adams graduated from college at the age of 19 and earned masters degrees in finance and real estate science . He teaches the subject "The US in the World Economy" ( German  The United States in the World Economy ) at Harvard University . Adams has published several books on poker and economics.

Poker career

Adams primarily plays high stakes cash games . He has also taken part in renowned live tournaments since 2005.

Adams finished sixth in the main event of the WSOP circuit tournament in Robinsonville in late January 2006 and received just under $ 115,000 in prize money . In July 2006 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came in the money in three tournaments. A year later, Adams finished 69th in the WSOP main event , which was paid for around $ 130,000. At the 2010 WSOP , he was at the championship event of the variant Seven Card Stud second and received a prize of almost 250,000 dollars. In January 2017, Adams also finished second in the A $ 25,000 Challenge of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne , securing the equivalent of almost $ 450,000. In mid-August 2017, he finished third in the High Roller at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood for $ 351,000. In September 2017, Adams won the fourth event of the Poker Masters at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas with a prize of $ 819,000. In mid-April 2018, he also won the high roller of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown and received the grand prize of $ 370,000. In September 2018, Adams played again at the Poker Masters and finished third in the race for the Purple Jacket with a tournament win, two further cash placements and prize money of 543,000 dollars . At the 2019 WSOP , he won an online tournament under the nickname DrOctagon and secured a bracelet and more than $ 400,000 in prize money. Adams then made it to the final table in the series' Final Fifty and $ 100,000 high roller event, winning more than $ 1.1 million in prize money.

In total, Adams has made more than five million dollars playing poker in live tournaments. He played on the fourth season of the television program High Stakes Poker .
