The speckled mousebird ( Colius striatus ), sometimes striped mouse bird is an African bird art from the family of the mouse birds .

description

The brown-winged mouse bird is 30 to 35 cm tall and thus belongs to the medium-sized mouse birds. The top is brown, the face is gray with a dark mask. It has a short hood and a long, broad and pointed tail. The underside is paler and banded on the chest. The legs are purple. The plumage of the young birds is duller, their hood is unmarked and they have a shorter tail.

distribution and habitat

The brown-winged mouse bird is found in the Afrotropic ecozone (including the Red Sea), and is widespread between 10 ° N and 10 ° S. It is often found in open scrub and woodland, in gardens and on the edges of forests.
