The broad-leaved Klebalant ( Dittrichia viscosa ) is a species of the genus Klebalant ( Dittrichia ) in the sunflower family (Asteraceae). The generic name honors the German botanist Manfred Dittrich (born 1934).

Vegetative characteristics
Dittrichia viscosa is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 40 to 130, rarely up to 200 centimeters. The plant lignifies at the bottom. The leaves are 6 to 12 millimeters wide, linear-lanceolate, encompassing half a stem, glandular-sticky and smelling unpleasant.
Generative characteristics
The flower heads are 10 to 20 millimeters in diameter. The florets are provided with a length of 10 to 12 mm significantly longer than the husks.
The flowering period is August to November.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.

Occurrence
Dittrichia viscosa occurs in the entire Mediterranean area from Morocco to Syria and on the Canary Islands and Madeira . It is a neophyte in the Azores, Belgium and Great Britain . The species grows in ruderal places on the coast and inland, in stream beds and on stream banks. Like its annual sister species Dittrichia graveolens , it can prevail over the course of a few years as a pasture weed avoided by cattle on Mediterranean pastures .
Systematics
The first publication took place under the name Erigeron viscosus L. by Carl von Linné. Synonyms for Dittrichia viscosa (L.) Greuter are Inula viscosa (L.) Aiton , Cupularia viscosa (L.) Godr. & Gren. , Erigeron viscosus L. , Jacobaea viscosa (L.) Merino .
There are several subspecies:
- Dittrichia viscosa (L.) Greuter subsp. viscosa : The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.
- Dittrichia viscosa subsp. angustifolia (Bég.) Greuter (Syn .: Dittrichia orientalis Brullo & De Marco ): It occurs in the eastern Mediterranean from Italy and Libya to Turkey and the Middle East .
- Dittrichia viscosa subsp. maritima (Brullo & De Marco) Greuter (Syn .: Dittrichia maritima Brullo & De Marco ): It occurs only in Portugal.
- Dittrichia viscosa subsp. revoluta (Hoffmanns. & Link) P.Silva & Tutin (Syn .: Inula revoluta Hoffmanns. & Link ): It occurs only in Portugal. The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.
