Breitenau is a cadastral municipality and a village in the municipality of Pennewang in the Upper Austrian district of Wels-Land in the Hausruckviertel .
Breitenau is located in the Hausruckviertel at 370 m above sea level. Breitenau is located 15 kilometers west of the city of Wels and two kilometers east of Pennewang. The cadastral parish consists of the eastern part of the parish and covers an area of 5.8 km². The extension from north to south is 2.7 km and from east to west 2.5 km.
The village has 62 inhabitants (as of 2001). The cadastral municipality of Breitenau also includes the villages of Graben (13 inhabitants), Mitterfils (47 inhabitants), Parzham (15 inhabitants), Pimming (20 inhabitants), Schmitzberg (27 inhabitants), Schneiting (30 inhabitants), Unterfils (22 inhabitants) and Unterwald (31 inhabitants).
