The Bremke is a 4.7 km long, northern and orographically left tributary of the Warmen Bode in the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony , Germany .

Grenzbach

On its entire route, the Bremke forms the border between the aforementioned federal states and, until 1990, between the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany. Even today, not far from the eastern bank of the stream, parts of the old GDR column path along the inner-German border are preserved. It also forms the border between the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt and Harz (Lower Saxony) nature parks .

The Bremke rises in the Hochharz between the western Wurmberg near Braunlage in Lower Saxony and the eastern Kleiner Winterberg near Schierke in Saxony-Anhalt at 805  m above sea level. NN . The stream flows mainly in a southerly direction, falls over the small Bremkefall and flows a little after crossing under the federal highway 27 and a little east of Braunlage near the silver fox farm in the Bode source river Warme Bode .
