Brent Bookwalter (born February 16, 1984 in Albuquerque ) is an American cyclist .

Career

Bookwalter was the American runner-up in the time trial of the U23 class in 2005 . From July of the same year he drove for the Continental Team Advantage Benefits Endeavor (from 2006: Priority Health ). In 2006 he became the national U23 time trial champion.

In 2008 Bookwalter switched to what was then the Professional Continental Team BMC Racing Team , which received a license as a ProTeam in 2011 . At the 2010 Giro d'Italia , he finished second in the prologue time trial . His first individual success in an international race came in 2013 on the first stage of the Tour of Qatar . In 2015 he won a section of the USA Pro Challenge . He took part in the 2016 Olympic Games and finished 15th in the road race and 23rd in the time trial. In 2017, Bookwalker won a stage on the Tour of Utah .

After eight years at BMC, Bookwalker joined the Australian UCI WorldTeam Mitchelton-Scott for the 2019 season .

Sports policy

Bookwalter was one of the co-founders of the Association of North American Professional Racing Cyclists , part of the Cyclistes Professionnels Associés , in 2014 .
