Bretschneider barberry ( Berberis bretschneideri ) is a plant from the family of Barberry (Berberidaceae). It is native to Japan .
description
Bretschneider's barberry is a deciduous (deciduous) shrub that can reach a height of up to 3 meters. The twigs are round, red-brown in the second year, the thorns are one-piece, light brown and one centimeter long. The leaves are lively green on the top and bluish on the underside and have clearly reticulate nerves , up to 6 centimeters long and densely serrated. The light yellow flowers are 10 to 15 in up to 5 centimeters long hanging racemes. The egg-shaped berries are purple and frosted.

This species and its varieties are rarely used as an ornamental shrub in gardens and parks.
