Bridge Across Forever is the second studio album by the progressive rock - Supergroup Transatlantic . It was released in 2001 by InsideOut Music and Metal Blade Records .
Creation and publication
After an American tour in 2000, the band members came together for four days at Neal Morse's to write songs for a new album together. This was recorded in January 2001 in Nashville . Guest musicians included Keath Mears (saxophone), Chris Carmichael (strings) and a choir. Bridge Across Forever was mixed by Rich Mouser and mastered by Vlado Meller at Sony Music Studios in New York. The album was released in Europe via InsideOut and in the USA via Metal Blade. There was also a limited edition in the DigiBook with a bonus CD.

The pieces on Bridge Across Forever were composed more together than those on the debut album SMPTe , but the style of Roine Stolt and v. a. clearly recognizable by Neal Morse. The varied retro prog on the album refers to role models such as Yes , Genesis , Gentle Giant and The Beatles .
reception
The press reacted mostly positively to the album. Ralf J. Günther from Babyblauen Seiten finds it “unbearable with his endless string of everyday melodies, empty rock formulas and prog clichés”, but Jörg Schumann sums it up: “The bottom line is that Transatlantic offers nothing new, but it does so in a perfect way . ”The Musikexpress speaks of an“ opulent, yes huge record ”and the eclipsed magazine selected Bridge Across Forever at 30th place on its list of the 150 most important prog albums.
