The list of the thickest fir trees in Germany names white firs ( Abies alba ), the trunk circumference of which was one meter in height over 5 meters (status 2001-2014). The largest German fir stocks are in Baden-Württemberg with 106,000 hectares (8 percent of the forest area) and 57,000 hectares (2 percent of the forest area) in Bavaria. Accordingly, the thickest fir trees in Germany are also in these two southern German states. In all other federal states, the silver fir is significantly less common with a total of 20,000 hectares.
