List of the thickest beeches in Germany
The list of the thickest beeches in Germany is called beeches ( Fagus ), the trunk circumference of which, according to the German Tree Archives, exceeds a certain amount. Measured at a height of one meter, the limit area is 6.5 meters, at the point of the smallest circumference it is 6 meters. From this point onwards, the German Tree Archive classifies Buchen as of national importance . For each of the 33 beeches, the location, the federal state, the two dimensions and the estimated age are given. All of them are European beeches ( Fagus sylvatica ). Baden-Württemberg has the most with a total of eleven strong bookings, followed by Bavaria with nine, six of which are in the Rhön .
Beeches with more than seven meters trunk circumference, measured at the point of the smallest circumference, are the Bavariabuche near Pondorf (8.88 meters), the Hutebuche near Scharenstetten (8.10 meters), the Hutebuche at the Rother Kuppe (7.81 meters) ), the willow beech on the Lailekopf (7.43 meters), the barrel beech at Schwand (7.39 meters), the double beech on the Lailekopf (7.38 meters) and the Schinderwasenbuche near Suppingen (7.08 meters). At a height of around 35 meters with over 50 solid meters, the beech near Hofham is the most massive beech in Germany.
