Bridges is a German short film from 2011 and the debut work by director Miguel Angelo Pate . The comic adaptation is based on the comic of the same name by Stephan Warnatsch , Tobias Reich and Florian Frerichs , which deals with the topic of the airlift .

American pilot Saul Bridges survived a plane crash during World War II in 1945 . Bridges is hidden and cared for by Lukas and his older sister Traute from the Nazis, who lost their mother in an air raid. In 1948 Bridges met Traute again in that place, where it was looked after and now belongs to the Berlin Airlift . Bridges learns about Lukas' illness and pulls out all the stops to provide Lukas with the necessary medication.

Was produced Bridges of Wartnuts Entertainment. The film was produced with a budget of € 70,000, with funding of € 20,000 from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg . The Checkpoint Charlie Foundation and the US Embassy in Berlin participated in the funding for the short film. The film was shot completely with a green screen and supplemented in post-production with comic drawings that serve as a background. The shooting lasted 15 days and was carried out in the Havel studios in Berlin-Charlottenburg .

The film celebrated its world premiere on May 12, 2011 in Berlin and was shown on September 18, 2011 at the Oldenburg International Film Festival .
