biography

After Acton had won the overall standings of the Nor-Am Cup in the 2002/03 season , she contested her first World Cup race in November 2003 . At the Junior World Championships 2003 in Puy Saint-Vincent she was second in the Super-G . She also took second place at the Junior World Championships 2005 in Bardonecchia , she was runner-up in the giant slalom world champion . Another overall victory in the Nor-Am Cup followed in the 2004/05 season.

In February 2005 Acton first took part in an Alpine World Ski Championships in Bormio . In the combination she was twelfth. Together with her teammates Patrick Biggs , François Bourque , Emily Brydon , Thomas Grandi and Erik Guay , she achieved fifth place in the newly created team competition. At the 2006 Olympics , tenth place in the combination was her best result.

Acton's best results in the World Cup were two tenth places, on February 27, 2005 in the combination of San Sicario and on March 4, 2006 in the super combination of Hafjell . She had to pause almost the entire 2007/08 season because of a fractured sacrum . In the two following winters, she never quite built on her earlier performances, but was able to qualify for the 2010 Winter Olympics, where she finished 17th in the slalom.

On August 18, 2010 Acton announced his retirement from top-class sport. Since September 3, 2010 she is married to the ice hockey goalkeeper Mike Smith .
