Brigitte Meng

Brigitte Meng (born February 19, 1932 in Frankfurt am Main ; died November 29, 1998 in Zurich ) was a Swiss writer and poet.

Life

The daughter of the art historian Mathilde Meng-Koehler and the psychoanalyst Heinrich Meng had to emigrate with her parents to Switzerland after the transfer of power to the National Socialists in 1933. In 1937 his father was given a position as a lecturer and in 1945 a professorship for mental hygiene at the University of Basel .

Meng mainly wrote poetry, in 1968 she and other authors were invited by Karl Schmid to read to students at the ETH Zurich . In the 1960s, Meng also tried plays that linked to the theater of the absurd . She had a poetically productive connection with Renato Arlati . Poems by her were included in his song cycles by Arthur Furer . Meng wrote an autobiographical novel.
