Bristol County is a county in the state of Rhode Island in the United States . In 2010 the county had 49,875 residents and a population density of 779 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Bristol .

The county covers an area of 116 square kilometers, of which 52 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Bristol County, Massachusetts, Providence County, and Kent County .
history
Bristol County was established on June 2, 1685 and named after the city of the same name. In 1746 there was a border shift towards Massachusetts , which Bristol Rhode Island struck.
One place in the county has the status of a National Historic Landmark , the Joseph Reynolds House . 27 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 25, 2018).

Demographics
According to the 2000 census , Bristol County's population was 50,648 in 19,033 households and 13,361 families. The population was made up of 96.81 percent white, 0.69 percent African American and 1 percent Asian. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.13 percent of the population. The per capita income was $ 26,503; 4.4 percent of families and 6.3 percent of the population lived below the poverty line .
