Bristol County is a county in the state of Rhode Island in the United States . In 2010 the county had 49,875 residents and a population density of 779 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Bristol .

The county covers an area of ​​116 square kilometers, of which 52 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Bristol County, Massachusetts, Providence County, and Kent County .

history

Bristol County was established on June 2, 1685 and named after the city of the same name. In 1746 there was a border shift towards Massachusetts , which Bristol Rhode Island struck.

One place in the county has the status of a National Historic Landmark , the Joseph Reynolds House . 27 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 25, 2018).
