Kent County is a county in the state of Rhode Island in the United States . In 2010 the county had 166,158 residents and a population density of 377 people per square kilometer. The county seat is East Greenwich .

The county has an area of 487 square kilometers, of which 46 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Providence County , Bristol County , Washington County , New London County, and Windham County .
history
Kent County was founded on June 11, 1750 from parts of Providence County and named after the English county of Kent .
One place in the county has the status of a National Historic Landmark , the General Nathanael Greene Homestead . 80 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 25, 2018).

Demographics
According to the 2000 census , Kent County's population was 167,090 people in 67,320 households and 44,969 families. The population was made up of 95.54 percent white, 0.93 percent African American and 1.34 percent Asian. 1.69 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. The per capita income was $ 23,833; 4.8 percent of families and 6.6 percent of the population lived below the poverty line .
