Britta Schöffmann

Britta Schöffmann , b. Immes, (born February 22, 1960 in St. Tönis ) is a German journalist , author and horse expert.

Life

Britta Schöffmann grew up in Krefeld , where she also attended high school. After graduating from high school , she studied sports science at the German Sport University Cologne . In her diploma thesis entitled On the Social Structure of Riding Clubs (1985), the enthusiastic dressage rider dealt with an equestrian topic.

She is a holder of the Golden Riding Badge , tournament judge and student a. a. by Fritz Tempelmann , Willi Schultheis , Harry Boldt , Jean Bemelmans and Klaus Balkenhol .

After several stays in the USA , she took up a newspaper traineeship at the national daily Rheinische Post and worked there as a local editor for four years after graduation. At the same time she was doing her doctorate at the Ruhr University in Bochum on the subject of "Equestrian Sports in a Subjective and Social Context" (1993).

In the meantime, in 1991 she switched to the Düsseldorf BILD editorial team, where she later worked as a police reporter. After three years of tabloid journalism, Britta Schöffmann started working as an editor at the specialist magazine Reiter Revue International in 1994 , where she was appointed deputy editor-in-chief eight months later. She held this position until she left in 2002. During the entire school and professional years she was still active in dressage saddle and achieved tournament success up to the Grand Prix .

Schöffmann now works as a freelancer for various specialist magazines, including the German Equestrian Association (FN), where she is also a member of various working groups. During the revision of the FN guidelines vol. 1 (basic training for riders and horses) she was a dressage expert and was the lead author and editor of the FN author's book "Understanding Horses - Handling and Ground Work". In addition, until 2015 she was a member of the editorial board of the magazine Dressur-Studien, which appears four times a year . She publishes teaching articles and journalistic specialist articles and is also in demand nationally and internationally as a specialist book author. Her books, most of which were published by Kosmos-Verlag in Stuttgart, have already been translated into six languages.
