Bruce Phillip Derlin (born November 28, 1961 in Sydney ) is a retired New Zealand tennis player .

Life

Derlin stood in 1979 in the quarterfinals of the junior tournament of the Australian Open , where he defeated, among other things, Wally Masur . In the course of his career he was able to win three double titles on the ATP Challenger Tour . He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1984 with position 115 in singles and 1986 with position 86 in doubles.

Derlin played thirteen singles and two doubles games between 1982 and 1988 for the New Zealand Davis Cup team . He achieved six singles and one double victory. His greatest success was taking part in the quarter-finals of the world group in 1982, when he was allowed to complete the last, meaningless individual in the 3-2 win against Italy .

At the 1988 Summer Olympics , he competed in doubles for New Zealand. At Kelly Evernden's side , he benefited from the Argentines' abandonment and then won in the second round against the favored Australians Darren Cahill and John Fitzgerald . In the quarter-finals, however, it was the last stop against Stefan Edberg and Anders Järryd from Sweden.
