The Bruchwetter is a small river through the Bleckeder Elbmarsch . It begins in Bleckede , flows parallel to the Elbe and flows south of Echem into the Alte Neetze . Shading is only available in places. The water is heavily weed and has only a very slow flow rate. At Ahrenschulter the river is widened to an elongated lake, the Ahrenschulter See .

The breaking weather is in the conservation area "march hooves landscape between march and breaking weather." The river length is 17.6 kilometers.

The clear and initially ditch-like break weather is already completely overgrown with aquatic plants at the beginning . Of these, the common water star ( Callitriche palustris ) is common. Yellow pond rose ( Nuphar lutea ) and arrowhead ( Sagittaria sagittifolia ) grow frequently. Overall, the river shows a species-rich, heterogeneous vegetation. A thick layer of digested sludge with an oxidation skin covers the sole. Various snails and water beetles as well as red mosquito larvae of the Chironomus thummi group are the dominant species of macrozoobenthos .

The water quality of the Bruchwetter has quality class II-III (critically polluted)
