Bruno Cuche (born April 13, 1948 in Konstanz ) was a French Général d'armée and was Chief of Staff of the French Army before he submitted his resignation in July 2008 . Between July 2009 and September 2014 he was governor of the home for the disabled in Paris.

Life

Cuche joined the French military in 1968 as an officer candidate. First he attended the Saint-Cyr military school in the year 155 Souvenir de Napoléon , after his internship he served in a tank regiment and was promoted to lieutenant in 1971 . After his promotion to Capitaine , he was assigned to the 2 e régiment de hussards in Orléans as Chef d'escadron in 1977 . His promotion to Commandant took place in 1982 after attending the tank school in Bovington, England . 1984–1985 he attended the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College in Toronto for about 10 months , later the École d'application de cavalerie in Saumur and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1986 . In 1990 he was promoted to Colonel and from 1992 Cuche was commander of the 501st Panzer Regiment in Rambouillet . From 1996 he moved to the Ministry of Defense and in 1998, after being promoted to Général de brigade , became Deputy General of the Division of the 2nd Armored Division. After being promoted to the Général de division in 2001 and to the Général de corps d'armée in 2003, he became inspector of the army. On July 16, 2006 he was promoted to Général d'armée and at the same time Chief of Staff of the French Army. After an accident on June 29, 2008, during the public demonstration of a hostage rescue by the 1er régiment de parachutistes d'infanterie de marine , in which 17 spectators were seriously injured by sharp shots, Cuche offered his resignation on July 1, 2008. Nicolas Sarkozy accepted the resignation on the same day.
