Bruno Griesel

Bruno Griesel (born February 17, 1960 in Jena ) is a German painter , draftsman and printmaker .

Life

Bruno Griesel was born as the second of three sons of the agricultural scientist Alois Griesel and his wife Hildegard (née Germar). The family was initially based in Jena, but later moved to Kleingera in Voigtland , where the father ran an agricultural production cooperative. In 1971 the family moved on to Leipzig, where the father ran the hop office. Bruno Griesel attended the Polytechnische Oberschule and switched to EOS Humboldt Leipzig in 1975 , where he was expelled in 1976 due to political unacceptability. He then began an apprenticeship as a model maker in Leipzig.

He then studied painting at the Leipzig University of Graphics and Book Art : (1981–1986) with Professor Volker Stelzmann , Wolfgang Peuker and, from the third year of studies, in the specialist class with Professor Bernhard Heisig . From 1986 to 1989 he was in the master class with Bernhard Heisig. He has been working as a freelance artist in Leipzig since 1989 and is a representative of the New Leipzig School . Griesel lives in his studio in Straguth near Zerbst in Saxony-Anhalt .
