Bruno Hain

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bruno Hain (born September 24, 1954 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German linguist , author and Palatinate dialect poet .

education

Hain grew up in the twin community of Böhl-Iggelheim in the Upper Palatinate , where he also lives. He studied German and English at the University of Mannheim .

job

Professionally, Hain primarily deals with the Palatinate dialects and tries to preserve and document them. Since 1989 he has been a member of the jury at the Dannstadter Höhe dialect competition . From 1989 to 1995 he was also a member of the jury of the dialect poet contest in Bockenheim , and in 1995 also of the jury of the International Literature Theater Prize in Saarbrücken . From 1990 to 1992 he was head of the literature department in the model project Studium Generale Palatinum .

Hain writes poetry , prose and plays in the dialect of his native Palatinate . Its topics and the way they are implemented in language are often outside the usual dialect literature. For this reason, he is sometimes criticized by followers of the traditional “Weck-Worscht-un-Woi-dialect poetry” , which was mostly cultivated until the end of the 20th century .

As an author, Hain has published more than a dozen books and is co-editor of ten more. Individual contributions by him have appeared in around twenty anthologies .
