Live and act

Waldvogel attended the Gräfler school in Schaffhausen and from 1977 to 1984 the cantonal school in Schaffhausen , from which he graduated with a primary school teacher certificate. In 1990 Waldvogel-Frei obtained the Advanced Film & Television Production Diploma at Media Production Services in London . Between 1991 and 1995 he studied theology at the state-independent theological college in Basel . From 1995 to 1997 he completed the course to qualify for the parish office and at the University of Basel . In 1998 he was ordained by the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Schaffhausen .

From 1998 Waldvogel-Frei worked as a pastor at the Gellert Church in Basel . He interpreted his work as that of a missionary . Together with his pastor colleague, Rev. Roger Rohner, the Gellert Church grew into a considerable staff church with 450 volunteers and heavily attended church services . Her working method was based on three theological focuses: Missio, Diakonia and Koinonia. Special vessels were consequently created for each focus, represented in a three-circle model (collect, strengthen, send). In the following years the Gellert Church grew to around "sixty house groups ".

Together with Stefan Mens (music) he wrote the medieval musical Basileia , which premiered in 2006 on the occasion of the 650th anniversary of the Basel earthquake . Also in connection with Basileia , Waldvogel initiated the historical Basel city novel Die Todgebeihte , which the then young author Titus Müller translated into literature based on ideas from the musical. Waldvogel also initiated and co-produced the graphic novel Basileia - The Monk's Legacy , which was implemented under the direction of Basler Brunnen Verlag with Roloff (illustration), Titus Müller and Michael Bregel . In 2008 Waldvogel-Frei staged his play "Exodus - Wüstentrip zu Gott" with David Bröckelmann and Brigitta Laube as an author and director, which was attended by over 1000 viewers. In 2013, Waldvogel and Beat Rink launched the first ecumenical “Night of Faith”, which was attended by over 15,000 guests. In 2018 he initiated and staged the first ecumenical Passionsweg in the Teufelsschlucht near Hägendorf. In 2018 he opened the 1st Open Air Cinema Wangen in cooperation with the Untergäu Friends' Association and the Culture Working Group. In 2019, the first open screen took place as part of the open air cinema, offering non-professional film writers a platform with awards ceremony by the jury and the audience.

Waldvogel has been working in the pastoral office in the Evangelical Reformed parish of Olten in Wangen near Olten since November 2015 . He is also on the advisory board of the Christian men's magazine Movo .

Bruno Waldvogel-Frei is married and has three sons. His youngest son has Down syndrome , which is why Waldvogel-Frei is also publicly involved in this area.
