In the parliamentary elections in 1992 , he entered as a non-party in the constituency of Eastern Kiang ( Kiang East ). He couldn't hold his own against his opponent Wally SM Sanneh ( PPP ).

In the following parliamentary elections in 1997 he stood as a candidate of the United Democratic Party (UDP), of which he was a founding member, for election and he was able to successfully defeat the constituency against the opposing candidate Ansumana Sanneh of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) with a narrow Win majority of votes for yourself.

Samura was killed in a traffic accident in January 2001 on the South Bank Road between Fula Bantang and Yero Beri Kunda together with his party comrade Abou Karamba Kassamba . The deceased was transferred to Brikama for burial. The two opposition MPs were not honored by the state with a state act , which had caused displeasure among relatives, party members and the population.
