Buey Tambo is a scattered settlement in the Potosí department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Buey Tambo is the largest town in the canton of Quivincha in the municipality of Betanzos in the province of Cornelio Saavedra . The village is located at an altitude of 3311 m on the banks of the Río Puma Waykhillo, which joins the Río Mollewaykho downstream and belongs to the river system of the Río Pilcomayo .

Buey Tambo is located at the southern end of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central . The climate of the region is a typical daytime climate , in which the mean temperature fluctuation between day and night is more pronounced than between summer and winter.
The annual average temperature in the region is around 17 ° C (see Betanzo's climate diagram), the monthly values fluctuate only slightly between 14 ° C in June / July and 19 ° C from November to January. The annual rainfall is almost 500 mm, the months May to September are arid with monthly values below 15 mm, only in January a rainfall of 100 mm is reached.
Transport network
Buey Tambo is located 55 kilometers by road southeast of Potosí , the capital of the department.
From Potosí, the Ruta 5 road leads east to Betanzos and on to the capital Sucre . Ten kilometers after Betanzos, the highway crosses the Río Khoña Paya, and seven kilometers later a country road branches off in a northerly direction, which after another seven kilometers reaches Buey Tambo .
